Here is another piece of pattern art that I created in the last few weeks of May 2013. In all of my pattern pieces, I have a series of shapes and motifs that I enjoy working together, shapes that are based on organic forms such as flowers, trees and leaves, droplets of water, teeth, feathers, spines and shells. I first draw the entire pattern in pencil, then go over the lines in biro. I then erase any remaining pencil lines and emphasise certain lines and shapes in black graphic ink pen. Sometimes, as in this and my previous pattern, I pick out aspects of the pattern in selected colours; this time I have used blue and green. I try not to make the colours too apparent, to create the sense that they might be a trick of the eyes.
